The reason(s) why I like travelling

Greeting fellow reader,

Thanks for checking out the blog. Hopefully you look past the incoherent sentences & random ramble of thoughts. This topic is something that is near & dear to me; travelling, the exploring of new places, "the search of the great beyond." Since the start of civilisation mankind has been on this quest for the new thing. The conquering of foreign lands. I wouldn't call myself a conquistador or a coloniser but like the obsessed royalties of the 1400s over finding new trade routes and expanding their empires for untold riches, I've caught myself with the desire to visit the 197 countries in the known world. (This figure is what the United Nations states considers self-governed territories which include Taiwan, The Vatican, Kosovo & Palestine) Unlike the nobles of the old world I don't have a massive empire nor do I have the riches that they had access to for the funding of these excursions. What I do posses is some novice survival training, a competent level of photography skills & practical wisdom in adventure. With that out of the way its going to be a challenge to do that since only 23-96 people have accomplished this extraordinary feat. In reality no one really knows the real answer since countries have changed so many times ever since the naming of  countries became a real thing but as the article I read from thebesttravelled.com those are the figures. Ill have my whole life to accomplish this but its the top of my bucket list. Life is way to short not to do what you want. I'm joining the club!! I've put it on the world wide web (yikes) ill look like fool if I don't accomplish this. (Nervous laughter)

Anyways to answer the question in the tittle besides the notoriety of being on an exclusive list of humans that have accomplished this is mainly curiosity. Trying to sort out what makes all us humans the same going beyond water, shelter, food & procreation. (I put hem in this order because that's what I deem are the highest priority) Looking at how us as a people have dominated the animal kingdom for thousands of years which is brief if you believe in the big bang theory. Just look at how much we have changed the amazon rainforest in just a few hundred of years or our oceans with our pollution & over fishing destroying the fragile ecosystem in such a relative short timeframe . But this blog isn't about our impact but rather why certain individuals of our race have decided to live where they currently are in.

Acknowledging all this my inspiration for this search comes from my own life. I wasn't always an American citizen, I use to reside in a third world country as defined by the cold war. The reasoning for the move was my parents quest to make a better life for myself and the eventual family that would expand, so that we had the opportunity make something out ourselves & have a proper education. In plain language was for us as the children to choose the lifestyle that was adequate for us as individuals & not worry about what our next meal would be or if we would have electricity, you get the point. As a young lad that's made it to a 'first world' country I had access to cable television. This had lead to an accelerated exposure to ideas I wouldn't have had access to in a different setting. One of the cable programmes that sparked my sense of wonder & curiosity was animal planet specifically the crocodile hunter. This man in weird accent was travelling the world to go mess around with animals, what kind of job was that? This lead to my love of the outdoors. (Rest Easy Steve) Another reason why I want to travel this vast sphere is to try the food of all these 197 countries. You won't believe this but there's hundreds of channels on cable television. Where I used to be from, you had like six channels. This was unprecedented!!! Me still being a lad I came across a show that might have been somewhat crude for my age or understanding but it was this chef guy that travelled the world just eating food. (Rest Easy) Anthony Bourdain showed me the uniqueness of each culture in the way the consume their sustenance. After observing these two particular programmes (I'm sure there were more but these are the ones I fondly recall) I became bemused with travelling. Went to my primary library & began doing my research extending from the Bermuda triangle to Pyramids to the great wall etc... This has always stuck with me & as an adult I've done a tad bit of travelling thus far but I need to do some more...Hmm maybe I should get a career doing something with that....

To close this beyond long post out I personally love to travel. Going to a new place seeing different things, experiencing the culture, the food, the way society functions. The summation of that post if you don't want to read all that is: I want to visit 197 countries because I saw a tv programme about animals & food. Then said I wanted to do that with my life. I have a lot of places on this planet that I haven't set a step on but I'm working on it. Thanks for reading. If you read all that. I owe you a cookie if I personally know you jaja.
